Static main character. I like character-driven stories so I wasn’t too impressed. However the external action was enough to pull me through the whole book in like three hours. Wasn’t fond of the prose, too repetitive. A pretty good book, but probably wouldn’t reread.

This book was a quick read, but the main character was really kind of flat. I would have liked more emotion, like anger. How could your husband vanish leaving his kid and you not be furious?

This book was kinda mid.
It was an easy ready but didn’t have all the twists and turns that I usually read in my mystery books.
I gave this a three star mainly because it was an easy read and I loved Hannah and Bailey. I thought Hannah was a really selfless person and it was refreshing to see in a book.

Loved this book! It met and exceeded my expectations. I have loved all of Laura Dave’s book that I’ve read, and this one was at the top! It seems like Dave’s books are all a little bit different genre, she’s doesn’t go back to the same things that worked before, and it makes reading her books so much fun.

The relationship that developed between Bailey and Hannah was so nice, and the sacrificial love of Owen for both of them was just beautiful. His father-in-law did not have the same for his family, and I think that’s why Owen can do that for Bailey and Hannah.

Laura Dave continues to be one of my favorite authors!
