Incredible. The whole series is fantastic, so I'm not surprised that I couldn't put this down. Some parts felt rushed, but overall an incredible prequel to the series!

Do you hear that? It's the sound of snow falling. Sometimes however, rain or hail can be misstaken for snow. Hailing from the capitol Corolianus snow a man of ambition bayond his means. His social capital having not caught up to the loss of the snow fortune. Despite this the grandma'ma proclaims, to anyone and everyone, that he one day will become president, much to the embarrassment of young Snow. A coming of age story about jealousy, rage, and what we are willing to do in the name of perceived self preservation. When it rains it pours from a gray sky and although the heart of snow was melted can it stay that way? When the shadows of our forefathers seem to be ever present and their deeds the measuring stick by which we are judged. Does the cuckoo ever stop calling? Does the cuckoo bumblebee feel bad about its deeds?

yeah this resparked my love for THG. i feel like i’m back in middle school with this and PJO being the forefront of media rn (but like only the good parts). suzanne collins is an actual genius and the parallels between this and the books she already wrote was brilliant. it brought her world building to new levels and i appreciate her dedication so bad. and that’s coming from someone who hates worldbuilding
