dark emotional hopeful sad tense slow-paced

4.0

I have mixed feelings about this book. It’s super dark and raw and I really feel for Dacia. Because of her addiction, she faces so much sexual abuse and bad people it just makes me sad. I’m very anti-drug so this drug use for me was all bad, and it seemed super easy for Dacia to move from the lighter stuff to the heavier stuff. I hated a lot of the characters and I felt bad for Dacia throughout the whole book. I felt like every single person in her life, excluding Susie and Joy were bad influences for her. And really, this is not a love story as it says on the description, it’s more a self growth book and fighting addiction kind of book. Well, I guess, if learning to love yourself can be seen as a love story, then this is one.
I didn’t really enjoy the book until the final chapters when she finally gets help and in the end, she chooses herself over the drugs and the bad people. I’m happy she found the right people to keep in her life.
