Decided to read this again simply for the nostalgia. First read this about 20 years ago and cried just as hard this time around. Now time to go cuddle my dog.

This is, to this day, one of my absolute favourite books of all time! Not only is it a quintessential American tale about a boy and his dogs, but it is truly also a tale about why people love dogs: because of their unconditional love. I absolutely sobbed at the end of this book, and rightfully so. Great story!

The most heartbreaking thing I have ever read. Old Dan and Little Ann are a great example of how every animal feels for their person.

“It’s a shame that people all over the world can’t have that kind of love in their hearts,” he said. “There would be no wars, slaughter, or murder; no greed or selfishness. It would be the kind of world that God wants us to have - a wonderful world.”

The love is unconditional

A lovely book on loyalty and self reliance.

This was one of those books as a kid that I didn't like reading, I found the whole story to be quite boring and dull. It was pretty hard to get through.
