This book is perfect for 4th to 6th graders that like ghost stories that are not too scary!

(Pregame review: I can't think of the title without getting hungry for pancakes.)

This is delightful in the same way a house-flipping show run by the Addams family would be delightful. The dark and comedic narrative, the journey to help all the ghosts in the International House of Dereliction, and the focus being less on character development and more on the plot itself all lend to a quirky story. Spooky and silly in all the best ways!

What a charming book! A young home renovator takes on the project of a condemned home that is full of magic and ghosts with unfinished business, which makes for a mix of projects and rapid-fire resolutions that can feel almost dizzying at times. The seemingly disparate stories and lives of the ghosts, the family, and the assorted faculty and staff dovetail cleanly -- there's not a word wasted in the lovely story.

That was really sweet! Wrinkle in time/mysterious Benedict society vibes in the writing style and setup. Fun and mysterious and heart warming and just a really easy read imo. I wouldn’t consider this a spooky read but it’s definitely fun for fall!
