It was just bad. Poorly written, poorly edited.

Books that start off with a morbidly catching opening line are my absolute favorite. I’m not sure what that says about me as a person, but here we are.
This was a solid continuation from book 1. We got more world-building and knowledge into what drives the characters. The ending left with plenty of excitement to start the final book. There was a lot more action! There was heartbreak I wasn’t prepared for.
Some content spoilers ahead.
Random thoughts as I read this:
- Nyah quickly became my favorite character. We love a badass bestie.
- This might be odd, but I appreciate the realistic moments mentioned in this book and the first (i.e. talking about morning breath) because it’s SO annoying that books act like those little things don’t exist. Especially anything with romance.
- Props for the asexual representation. Props for the normalized diverse sexual representation in general.
- Jasrov and Bell deserved better. *cries*
- Queen Kathine running in to battle the Druid was awesome.
