Part 2 of the Chequey and Myfawny (took you long enough Daniel!), I was hoping for more Myfawny but she did play a substantial role in this sequel. I did feel like some parts were a bit unnecessary and not enough character development was done but all in all a good book.

I liked this book as much as the first in the series. Very fun read with engaging characters and situations and I will absolutely read the next in the series, if there is one. Please let there be a next in the series. Daniel O'Malley writes great women and such fun situations. I definitely recommend this series. Fun!

I really love this book, I think it has well-written female characters (which can be hard to come by in fantasy, esp written by men) and is super funny. Sometimes the world building can get a little boring, but I think it's written in a fun way. I also think it's a little hard to keep track of all of the characters.

Overall I would say this felt a lot heavier than the first book. I think I liked it just as much but I will say that it had some larger chunks of exposition that dragged it down. I can see where if the character of Myfanwy really drew you into the first book this one might be disappointing as it does not have nearly as much written from her perspective. I liked Felicity, and grew to like Odette, so I didn't mind that much, but I can see how that could detract from the book.

I really enjoyed this urban fantasy novel - even with the supernatural touches! Not really my usual genre, but I heard this book being discussed on a podcast and wanted to read it. The two female protagonists were great: Felicity is a Pawn for the Checquy, the secret British government organisation that takes care of anything supernatural in Britain. Odette is a grafter, a member of a group of scientists whose knowledge and experiments have taken them hundreds of years ahead of the current scientific state of play. The Checquy and the grafters have been enemies for centuries - however, Odette's grandfather has approached the Checquy and proposed a merger of the two organisations. It seems like a lot of people, from both the Checquy and the grafters do not want this to happen. Felicity and Odette are forced together, but soon come to respect each other and their abilities and end up becoming friends. I didn't realise until after I started this book that it is actually number two in a series - now I have to go back and read the first book.
