Didn’t enjoy this book but finished it anyway. Too much baby peril, not enough coherence. The time frame for the pregnancy makes no sense either. How long was Polly kidnapped? They waffled between being frantic to find her to having a long lunch with a friend?!? The bad guys motivations made no sense considering there was no earthly way they would survive. There was no flow or sense to the plot. At what point did the guy in the cellar abduct and threaten the doctor’s family? Did the author research induction at all? Because pitocin doesn’t work that fast.

Book 2 of the Bugrov duet and what a rollercoaster.

Continuation of the book 1 with Alyssa and Polly kidnapping, then rescue and dealing with the flesh trade.
Book 2 is full of twist and turns that will keep you glued to the book till the end but don't worry Nicole serves us with HEA.

This duet is a must read as so as the other books by this awesome author.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m still trying to decide what redeeming qualities Uri had?

I still like this series since the plot is more unique than Nicole Fox's other books. Midnight Sanctuary also nicely wraps up the plot from the first book, [b:Midnight Purgatory|203424440|Midnight Purgatory (Bugrov Bratva #1)|Nicole Fox|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1701974008l/203424440._SY75_.jpg|209122865]. On the other hand, a big plot point (almost the whole thing) is Alyssa's pregnancy. While it's not done badly, the pregnancy is just a bit too much of the whole point of the book for me. I would've preferred a more complex context to her pregnancy and fewer pages on the pregnancy itself.

Midnight Sanctuary is the conclusion of the Bugrov Bratva, and it deals with a lot of aggressively dark topics, including kidnapping, human trafficking, and the long-term impacts of acute trauma to name but a few. While this isn't unique to the Bugrov duet, it is much more intense than other Nicole Fox Bratva duets, simply because Uri isn't a businessman by day like other MMCs in her universe. Uri took out his frustrations (and rightfully so to some extent) on Alyssa, but unfortunately, I don't feel like he did NEARLY enough groveling to make up for how poorly he treated Alyssa. That being said, once he came around (punny), he was such a loving and caring partner that it almost made up for his mistreatment of Alyssa; in the meantime, though, I wish we had seen more of Alyssa unpacking her own trauma. She spent so much time unpacking everything for everyone else that her own traumatic experience went largely ignored, especially as it pertained to Uri's treatment. Even still, though, I weirdly loved this book because of how it tackled the bigger issues. Plus...can I just scream from the rooftops about how much I AM OBSESSED WITH NIKOLAI FREAKING BUGROV!?! He's such a snarky but deeply supportive brother who demands the best from his brother while still recognizing and sympathizing with the incredible weight on his brother's Bratva-leading chest. Lev, Uri's brother whose mental development stopped at 12 after severe parental trauma, and Polly, Uri's sister who has spent her short life trying to make her brothers' live easier, are absolute standouts of this story, often forcing Uri to acknowledge his problems and develop.
