I don't want to spoil anything. My star rating and a 4 worded review are all I can give to this amazing book:

Hay muchas cosas incongruentes pero bueno es un libro YA.
Predecible. A pesar de q las ultimas paginas fueron una sorpresa, si la hubiera pensado un poco más igual podría haberlo previsto

Actual rating 2.5*. At 75% I couldn’t do it anymore and skimmed through the rest of the book. While the idea of the story was interesting and the writing was fine, there were some repeated things that I couldn’t get past. Namely, the constant repetition of the same few phrases. It got to a point where I literally felt like screaming each time I came upon those words. We get it, you don’t have to keep repeating it ad nauseam. I also didn’t ever feel a connection to any of the characters. I didn’t dislike them or anything, but they weren’t really memorable either. The pacing was off as well, in my opinion. I felt like for as long as the book was there was still so much detail and actual plot left out. I didn’t care for the ending. It was predictable and lackluster. Also pretty unbelievable that after an entire book with Jaren being Kiva’s main support, literally saving her life multiple times, BREAKING HER OUT OF PRISON, and standing up for her when nobody else would, she chooses at the end to just toss their friendship away for her family who literally let her rot away in prison for 10 years AS A CHILD. It didn’t fit the person we were led to believe Kiva was for 400+ pages and, frankly, if that’s who she truly is then I have absolutely no interest in reading any more about her. It felt deceptive to me as a reader and like it had no actual purpose other than shock value. Sorry but that just seems completely unrealistic to me and actually incredibly unhealthy.

I really wanted to love this book but unfortunately it just didn’t work for me.
