I would recommend this read for those who enjoy an unlikeable female character.
This book mainly discusses this in the realm of movies but the same could easily be applied to books and other media as well.
I enjoyed reading more about these archetypes and ways we’ve characterized unlikeable female characters and while the ideas weren’t new to me I appreciated the additional depth this book brought to these ideas through the discussion of intersectionality within these portrayals (or sometimes lack of portrayals) in terms of race, sexuality, age, and other factors coloring how we view the idea of likeability.
It did drag in some areas when there was a large amount of name dropping and did at times get a bit in the weeds but overall I think it’s worth a read and that those who enjoy movies and analyzing pop culture would enjoy it.
