Jane Austen understands and observes human interaction with a level of mastery not often matched. Her insight into society and the relationships between people allows her to make funny and perceptive comments whilst weaving an intricate and detailed plot. I feel a lot of people who do not enjoy reading Austen are not picking up on the ironic tone which is prevalent in all her works, especially Northanger Abbey. This book made me laugh out loud several times. The characters are so well-written that they can still be easily found in today's society, 200 years later.
Her books also manage to explore the plight of the female in 18/19th century England's aversion to sexuality without the extravagant reliance on emotional blackmail that other Romantic-era novels of sensibility manufacture. Jane Austen is a pioneer of feminism and I would give much to spend an afternoon in the pump room with her.

This book is book is more focused on women's friendships than romance. However, I found it very interesting. It's a fast-paced read with sweet heroine. I had fun reading it.

This is the first Austen book I've ever managed to finish and I really enjoyed it, it's even inspired me to go back and finish others I'd given up on. I enjoyed how relatable some of the characters were even now, and I found myself actively rooting for (and against) some of them.

This is my second Jane Austen, and I absolutely adored this.

Austen is just so charming and her sense of humor is amazing in this one. The gothic satire is also well done and the final line of this novel really nails down the whole point of this novel. Just so so good likeee

I’m aiming to read Emma next, since I just know Persuasions gonna show up in my reading list next semester
