Fascinating read. The author's goal seems to be to explore in easy/ier to understand language how the periodic table of elements works, and what it means for our everyday lives. He accomplishes that with lots of funny anecdotes and good explanations. There are times where it gets pretty complex and technical, but overall I was able to follow most of what he discussed.
Graphic: Death
There are a number of fairly detailed descriptions of the harm various elements can cause to the human body, including how they have been used in murder.semifor's review against another edition

Written by a high school science teacher, it provides excellent coverage of the science behind the periodic table. It's deep enough to be interesting but approachable for a general audience. It is full of interesting anecdotes. I wish I'd had this book while taking high school chemistry.
The one thing I found surprising is that there's no image of the periodic table in this book. Seems like there should be. I was reading the digital version, a library checkout, using the Libby App. Perhaps there's a periodic table in the print copy?
Looking forward to reading more from this author.
