Something I picked up on impulse while attending Star Wars Celebration in 2019. While I have flipped through it in the interim I didn't fully sit down to read it from cover to cover until this year. The art is gorgeous and the women detailed are major named characters but also some smaller individuals whose stories are lesser known.

All in all a really lovely coffee table book for the discerning Star Wars fan in your life.

This book is a love letter to the female characters who left their mark on the galaxy and their mark on our lives.
“I want to emphasize how everyone makes a difference, whether she’s an Imperial officer, a Rebel hero, a diplomat, or a mother. We are all part of the story, and we all deserve to have our story told.”
I will hold these women close to my heart and allow them to guide me.

Women are integral to the stories of the Star Wars universe, from Princess Leia to Rey to Ahsoka Tano. Amy Ratcliffe's gorgeously illustrated compendium of female characters draws on every part of the Star Wars universe: the films, the animated television series, the official novels, and Marvel comics.

Within its pages I found characters familiar and not; some from the novels made me want to go out and find the books and read them, too.

The illustrations really make the book, though. Done by a number of female illustrators, they are gorgeous and evoke the spirits of the characters portrayed.

Every Star Wars fan should own a copy of this.

One of the most beautiful books I own and it’s one of my favourites, too. I decided to read this today to honour Carrie and I loved it so so much! It’s so special to me and it was just amazing.

Absolutely stunning art and heartfelt stories around the well-known and not so well-known ladies in a galaxy far, far away. I’ve been waiting eagerly for Amy’s book to be released and I was not disappointed!

(Are we gonna get some prints released at some point because I NEED Mother Talzin hanging above my bed watching over me plz)

Absolutely gorgeous artwork. If you're just looking for a book of gorgeous artwork of the women of star wars, then I highly highly recommend this. But unfortunately, I can't recommend it for the text. I found the writing to be very stiff and struggled to enjoy reading it at all. I ended up skimming the second half because I was bored. A lot of the sections were also really short and lacking details. They even skipped some essential star wars women like Mara Jade and Jaina Solo. Plus the writing wasn't fully focused on the history of the charactres, but had quotes from the actors and whatnot that just felt unnecessary and out of place. Overall, I was left feeling like the book itself was a full on gimmick/cash grab (though the artwork was clearly made with a lot of emotion and effort!!).

Absolutely gorgeous, coffee-table-book perfection! This book has been collated in great detail and excellent design by Amy Ratcliffe and a whole host of extremely talented female and non-binary artists. Informative and striking, the content of this book is well worth it's cost and is a fantastic voice for the female perspective in science fiction (and stories in general). Many characters are covered here, from the original trilogy right through to the latest movies and animations, revealing the layered and dynamic female characters that exist through the series. A fantastic afternoon's read on a topic I'm very enthusiastic about!
