⭐Fake dating
⭐ Friends to lovers

🌈 Biracial FMC
🌈 Lesbian FMC
🌈 Queer FMC

Oh my lord, this was the cutest WLW I've read in a while.

Our two FMCs end up fake dating after Hannah's mum wrongly (or not so wrongly) assumes she's gay. To the point where she started up a support group for parents of LGBTQ+ kids 😂😭

Hannah and Ashley's mum's are constantly meddling and trying to set them up with other people, so they end up on a blind date and decide to fake date each other to get their parents off their backs. Obviously the two start catching feelings.

This creates a problem as Hannah is convinced she's straight, and Ashley has had a previous relationship with a closeted woman who left her broken hearted.

However, live conquers all and all that jazz. The two FMCs had great chemistry and their bond just got closer throughout the fake dating process which I loved, and the book was genuinely funny.

One subtle factor in the book that really stood out to me was the fact that nobody forced a label onto Hannah, including Hannah herself. All we know is she loves Ashley and Ashley loves her, and that's all I needed.

Having a book set in Scotland can be a bit touch and go for me, because even if an author is Scottish, it can often feel forces and the dialect becomes cringy. HOWEVER, this was done perfectly, I'm not sure if the author is Scottish or not, but the dialect and slang was so familiar and non-cringy that I really adored the fact it was set in Scotland. It just added a layer of relatability and furthered the warm fuzzies.

Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sweet fake dating friends to lovers. It's not particularly steamy although we do have an intimate scene or two, so if spicy is all you want it might not be for you, but I strongly advise you give it a shot anyway!!
