It's quite fun to cut back into an author's body of work.
Maybe it's not revolutionary but I think it was quite enjoyable.
The audiobook was quite good as well.
Overall I was waiting for a moment where I really had something click like I felt In murderbot. There were times i felt like I saw it, but mostly it's just a good book.

Okay, now I know why Geoff said this was a little too reminiscent of Hercules: The Legendary Adventures fanfic.

But I will probably read the next book in the trilogy to see if it improves at all!

After a slow and slightly rough start, wow does this one pick up around chapter 3! Though it may not seem so at the beginning, true to Martha Well's style, she packs a heck of a lot of intrigue, character development, action, and adventure in to her novels and this one is definitely no exception... My brain is still spinning a bit from all the plot twists and the Huge World-Spanning Events Going On, to be honest. Only kicked off one star because there's A Lot to keep track of, which is at least partially responsible for the brain overload.

Starts off slow, but picks up about half way through. By the end it had my full attention. Now I going to take out book 2.

I love the MurderBot books so, so much that I sought this out. This is weird, confusing, slow...not for me.

Although I didn't love this as much as the Murderbot novels, it was still pretty enjoyable. I liked the juxtaposition of steampunk fantasy in a sort of early 20th century-ish setting (plus magic) with the more sword & sorcery fantasy, Iron Age-ish kind of setting.
