This book was alright. A lot of retellings actually, not just the one, although, of course, the most prominent it the one of the Frog Prince. Some of it was really funny in my opinion, but some of it I found really boring, sadly. It just took a long time to get everywhere but at the same time too much happened. The pace just felt a little off.
I liked the ending, liked the idea, didn't really like the execution that much, but also didn't hate it or anything. I think it could have been better and I kind of expected better, but it wasn't bad by any means.

Ok I was expecting a bit more from this book, it took a while to get into and get to the romance. I've read her other book (Beastly and A Kiss In Time) and loved them and re-read them occasionally when I'm in the mood for a dreamy romance, but this one lacked it a bit, I just wish I had a bit more to it.
The book itself was fairly interesting and I quite liked the story line, it was different and something I haven't really read before I didn't like the disney version of the princess and the frog, which is the only other way I've heard this story, so maybe it's just a story not for me, either way it wasn't so bad.
I like the friendship between Johnny and Meg, i didn't really see the romance bit coming for them until a bit later on.
Overall i give this a 3.5 stars because it wasn't that bad and it was a bit different, with a few stories mixed in as well.

it was just ok. liked beastly much much more.
Johnny is just a guy working for his family business repairing shoes in a hotel in Florida. He works more than he should and he is utterly bored with his life. When a princess comes to stay at the hotel, he is suddenly coerced into finding a missing prince that has been turned into a frog by an evil witch, all in hopes that the princess's kingdom can be saved. I am usually more amused by Flinn's adaptations of common fairy tales, but this novel did not feel as strong, perhaps due to the fact that there were many tales being used to make this book. Regardless, I enjoyed reading it though it may not be something that I would reread often.
Another interesting twist on fairy tales by Alex Finn. This mostly covers the frog prince, but there are other ones mixed in too.
So we meet Johnny, who fixes shoes, and someday wants to design them. His family is poor, and he works long days to help make ends meet. His mom works all day too. His Dad left when Johnny was young, so it's just him and his mom. The electricity gets turned off all the time, and since it's the middle of the summer in South Beach, it's really hot. He's sad that no matter how hard he and his mom work, they can't quite meet all of their financial obligations.
Enter Princess Victoriana. She's a party girl who is always in the news. She stays at the hotel that Johnny works at, and happens to meet him. She asks him up to his room and tells him about her missing brother. She tells him he's been turned into a frog. Johnny realizes she's crazy and tries to get out of there, but she is convinced he is the only one who can help her brother.
Turns out she's not crazy and there really are used to be humans all over the place. He, along with his best friend Meg, try to get the whole situation sorted, and have lots of adventures in the mean time.
It was a cute story.

This was funny and light. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. And I definitly enjoyed it more than Beastly. No weirdly dated IM messaging or whatever was going on with that book.
I love fairy tales, and it was wonderful to see references to lesser known tales in this book. The story was fun, I liked this one more than Beastly.
Loving it so far. Johnny seems like a great friend to Meg.
I loved Alex Flinn's 'Beastly' a bit more than I loved this one, but I think she did an excellent job. I love Grimm's fairy tales, and regular ones in general, and reading them in modern versions is always interesting. The writing in this one is more similar to 'Beastly' than 'A Kiss In Time' was, and I think I prefer this style of writing more.
1.5 stars. I loved Beastly, but the last 2 books of Flinn's have been a little less then stellar. Somewhat disapointed.
