It took me a long time to read this book. As in, it took over a year to finish this book. I have listened to Rachel's podcast since 2018 and one of the best things about her is her capacity to be vulnerable and lay it all bare for the world to know. However, there were times where the story took long tangents and it was difficult for me to focus on it.

I give this book four stars because even though I enjoyed it, it did not keep me hooked, and to finish it I had to put it on a to-do list and basically force myself to finish it. If you are a person who has listened and enjoyed Rachel's podcast I would recommend to just get the audiobook. I listened to the sample and it's very easy to listen to, narrated by her, and seems like it would feel like an extended version of her podcast.

A festival of tears. Mostly sad ones, but also happy ones. Loved it.

Rachel, thank you for sharing your story.

This book is fantastic! Rachel’s story filled me with inspiration and hope. This is a great reminder to allow yourself to feel all emotions. Reading this reminded me the emotions attached to the trauma I’ve been through are completely valid. I wish I had the spiritual awakening and epiphanies she has been able to find; even though I couldn’t relate to that aspect the book overall was relate-able.

I mean, don’t judge me on this one. LOL. It’s the first book I’ve read by an Instagram celebrity. I needed something “easy” to read in parallel with that rough book about public lands. The book has its flaws, but the story is consistent with her online persona. If you follow Rachel on Instagram, this is just a bigger, deeper dose. She’s honest, thoughtful, and open. It was exactly what I expected it to be. No surprises here. ;)

From the moment I picked it up, I knew this book was going to take me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Rachel did a beautiful job of telling her story, seamlessly intertwining the good, the bad and the ugly. I felt comforted knowing that she has such a successful life, but that she's also been through the wringer. It gives me hope when I'm feeling down about whatever I've got going on.

No matter how often I'd been told, I didn't realize how much anger I held towards myself and my family. I've been holding grudges about things that don't matter anymore. Rachel's words helped me to see how much damage that anger can cause both emotionally and physically. She forced me to think about all the weight I've been unnecessarily been carrying around on my shoulders.

Although some of her experiences are vastly different than my own, I deeply related to her on an emotional level. I've had the poor family relationships that seem to consume me until there's nothing left but frustration. I've been so closed off to new experience because of a "survival mentality" which just stunts my personal growth rather than protecting me from things.

Rachel's Book was truly a wake-up call to me. It helped me realize that I want to put myself first - to work on myself and not worry so much about taking care of others. It showed me that when I am constantly trying to take fix others and their problems, that I not only enable them but I also hurt myself in the process.

It's been interesting to follow along Rachel's journey, mostly on Instagram on my part, and then to read her story. She's so open and honest and listening to her in the audiobook you could hear the emotions. I cried a lot lol.
