I had such a wonderful time being back in the Graceling realm again. Graceling was one of the books that got me into YA fantasy, and is still one of my favorites of the genre.
Winterkeep takes place four years after Bitterblue, the third book of the series. We meet again Queen Bitterblue as she and her court are going on a diplomatic trip to Winterkeep, a nation across the sea in the newly discovered land of Torla. I enjoyed the new Winterkeep characters, and the complexity of their relationships, and I loved the concept of the blue foxes and the silbercows. Kristin Cashore does this so well. I loved reading about Bitterblue, Hava and Giddon, though I had hoped for Katsa and Po to make an appearance. However, there is going to be a fifth book in the series, from Hava's perspective, so my hope lives on.
My only complaint really is that this book is way too long. For well over half the book the pacing was very slow, and not much was happening. There were a little too many info dumps on Winterkeep, it’s politics and enviromental issues in my opinion, but the plot itself felt true to the Graceling series, and I can't wait for the next book!

I'm a huge fan of rhe graceling series. I used to read and reread it growing up. Winterkeep is an excellent new addition to the series and opens the world to new lands in an amazing way! I am so excited to read Seasparrow!
The books in this series are silly at times, and they are also, at times, not very well written. However, I love the adventures and the worlds that she creates. Some good characters too. Perfect if you want an escapist read. Beware, lots of violence though.
