DID NOT FINISH

Wonderful opening with warm, compelling writing and an intriguing new heroine. The political drama being set up was delightful, and I was truly excited to see where it would lead. However, I hate that Giddon bastard with a burning passion, could not stand his chapters, and I HATE that a 22-year old Bitterblue MARRIED that old man. UGH! I ended up just going back and rereading Fire again. I'm disappointed that a crappy forced romance ruined what looked to be an enchanting new fantasy tale 💔
adventurous dark tense slow-paced

This whole series has such a beautiful, simplistic and innocent way of dealing with incredibly complex topics. This book handles emotional and physical abuse through the eyes of a pet and a child, complex politics, guilt and what it means to exist in an ecosystem and a society through the eyes of an octopus, and I sobbed like a baby. Fantastic

I adored this so so so so much! I was so excited when I saw that this series was getting a continuation and this did not dissapoint. The politics were top notch the characters and their journeys were perfect. I believe that this is my second favorite book in the series now! I think Fire will always be my favorite but this is a very close second. The new continent was fascinating and intricate and seeing Bitterblue again was obviously lovely. I cannot recommend this enough if you are a fan of the original three books.

4.5 im happy for bitterblue but her and giddon squicks me out
