I loved this book and got so caught up into the storyline I may have stayed up a bit later than I should have, but the sleepy morning was worth it!

Laina, Kyle and his newly adopted Mastiff Milo were so engaging and fun to read about. I loved that Laina is a strong woman who knows who she is and what she wants and is willing to push against family and pack expectations for her. Her attraction to Kyle is intense and she has a difficult time resisting him, until she eventually gives in and revels in their chemistry and connection.

There is a number of twists and turns woven into the storyline, and the fantastical supernatural realm extends beyond just the shifter world. The author brings dragons, far, ogres and much more into a well written story that thrilled me and had me feeling so many emotions. Readers will quickly learn everything and everyone isn’t what they first seem to be.

This is a new to me author I will gleefully be watching for more books to grab and enjoy!

I received a free ARC from the author and Hidden Gems; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Laina, the female werewolf lead, is pack princess and a veterinarian determined to forge her own way through life and not just bow to tradition. When she meets Kyle, the human male lead, she agrees to a date until disaster strikes her pack and she’s forced to stand him up. Kyle never gets stood up and he returns to Laina’s veterinary clinic to check everything’s ok, and is politely but firmly escorted away.

When Laina’s brother, the pack alpha, sends them away for safety, Laina is shocked to find Kyle’s business means he’s in the same location.

They’re both facing threats and the attraction between them is intense but risky. They’re both being told the other is not a suitable partner…

This story is dual POV (though I wouldn’t have minded a bit more of Kyle’s POV), well written, and a fast-paced, action-filled romance. I empathised with both characters’ competing priorities and enjoyed watching them learn to out each other first. I enjoyed Laina’s real physical strength and the confidence she had asserting her preferences. I enjoyed Kyle’s character development and his gradual willingness to pull away from the role his business and brother had cast for him. I enjoyed their spicy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the variety of the secondary characters and their integration in the story. I look forward to the next story.
