Another reviewer called this a "black hip hop noir" and that seems right. I was mostly aware the whole book that this particular culture of music production mixed with weapons and various warring groups of people is as foreign to me as other exotic locales would be. It also made me grateful that for the most part I do not live a life where any scores need to be settled or wrongs avenged.

Nelson George does a great job of keeping you on your toes and keeping the reality of struggle fresh. We all get to a point of restructure and revamping of our lives....this book speaks to this. I truly appreciate his musical connection with the titles.
