Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

Written like it desperately wants to be made into a movie. The base story is a good one, but the execution feels a little workmanlike, and just takes you from points A to B to Pretty Good Twist without special attention.

My biggest gripe is how long it takes the protagonist, a scientist in a related field, to figure out what’s happened to him when the author has already built in enough cues to ensure readers know what’s going on. It’s an annoying chapter of confused inner thoughts to get through when the answer is so obvious. Just like a horror film where you scream at the screen that the murderer is your best friend, idiot!

Alpha Bro goes in search of lost property.
Seriously you can't convince me this man actually loves his wife and child!!

Now first I get the appeal this is a really raced paced twisty book. To bad about the ramage misogyny and the fact our smart scientist protagonist is actually a dumbass.

The writing style is really easy to read, and I think the author does a great job at breaking down the science so is easy to understand. But that's probably because he doesn't write in full sentences. Someone needs to tell Blake Crouch they can be more than 3 words long.

Now why don't I think he loves his wife and child, well that would be how he only ever talks about her as a hot piece of ass with 'spanish eyes' whenever that means!!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the son. Seriously I forgot he existed half the time he's pretty irrelevant!!
