I definitely liked this more than the first book, but I gave it the same rating cuz I just couldn't bring myself to give it four stars. I took a break from reading it about halfway through to focus on my book club books, but man that last third really goes by in a whirlwind. It's nice to see the twins finally developing their own personalities and discover themselves as Fae, but it's equally as nice to see the Heirs get a taste of their own medicine. Looking forward to the next one!

4 out of 5 ☆’s.

”It didn’t matter that I hated him and he hated me, in that moment it was only us and them. And I couldn’t bear to let them take him.”

Diving back into this world again and  getting to see the outcome of the events that unfolded in ”The Awakening” was such a fun experience!

I loved getting to see Tory and Darcy gain some more footing in Solaria — stating that they’re starting to see it as their home, etc. — as well as seeing their continued attempts at harnessing their powers.

(I’m glad that the authors of the series are making this a gradual process for the sisters — rather than having Tory and Darcy arrive at ZA and instantly being able to beat everyone to a pulp…)

I also enjoyed seeing Orion and Darcy’s relationship develop a bit more in this novel…I’m such a sucker for them!

I’m sooo excited to begin “The Reckoning“! :)

P.S. Orion is still my number one. ♡

This book is a slight improvement on the first one, the Vegas have grown a little bit of a backbone and finally get a tiny bit of revenge on the heirs. But it really is only a tiny bit. The pranks they pull on the Heirs are about the level you would expect from a bunch of high school kids and barely gets them enough payback for the hazing they went through on day one at the academy, so it's quite underwhelming. Again, the frequency of grammatical errors in the book is disappointing. The pacing of this series is weird, each book only covers a week or two and there is so much focus on the mundanity of each day and the constant jibes and bullying from the heirs, then most of the action packed in right at the end.

Addicting as hell. The plot's level of action and simultaneous depth is incredibly well written and makes for an entirely absorbing read.

Alright so this book picks up immediately after book 1. The twins are finally ready to dish out their own form of payback on the heirs, and they do so in funny but cruel ways. The plot moves forward only a little as Tory and Darcy chase the clues left by their dead ally. We also get a peek at the boys’ home lives and psyche as the chapters are not just Tory and Darcy POVs.. we get at least one chapter each heir, as well as a chapter or two from Orion… or should we just call him Lance.

The bullying is toned down on the boys side, but I found some of the ways Darcy and Tory got back on them to be bad and mean spirited. I wanted to believe they were better than that. Instead of bullying we get some intense sexual scenes which I am torn about. For Darcy, I saw it coming a mile away and for Tory I think she picked the wrong guy to do that, but seems to have picked the right guy in the end. My fav part was finding out what Geraldine’s form was and the Pegasus jokes.

My theories as I read….

1. Darcy and Lance are mates
2. Tory and Darius are mates
3. Tory, Darius, Caleb love triangle
4. Darius dad killed Lance’s sister
5. I still think Diego is sus.. no form yet so I still suspect nymph
6. Darius dad is working with nymph
7. Darius’ brother is a half brother, different dad
