This is a book about Austins life and about being a black woman in America. This is not a guide for white people on how to be about a better ally or anti-racist but if you read it you can get ideas about how to be a better ally and anti-racist. I really enjoyed learning about her life and what she has gone through. It made me think about myself and actions I may have done unintentionally. This does look at Christian people and race which I thought was interesting because I feel like that’s not normally talked about and it was like a big focus in this.

I wish I would've known that this book talked a lot about church before reading it because I'm not in the headspace for that right now. Otherwise, I learned a lot about racism in schools, workplaces (particularly nonprofits), and churches.
