3.5 stars.
I liked this one better than the first book.
Here we find Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Teagan settling in Salvation. There is of course the obvious girls who don't like Deuce and the religious fanatics who blame Deuce's "unwomanly" ways on the reason why the Freaks are changing but it wasn't written in a way to annoy me, it actually made the plot of the story flow better.
Overall, it is a pretty good dystopian story and I am looking forward to seeing how it ends.

“They had machines to do their work for them: solve problems, cipher numbers, and print writing. People grew lazy. They knew too many blessings and so they lost the ability to appreciate what they had. They always wanted more, more, more and that road…led down into darkness" -Edmund
AND ALL THE AWARDS!!!…This book just hit me right in the feels over and over again. At one point Saturday after reading one part, i was doing my hair and i had to just stop and take a seat because my heart was literally shattering as i was standing in front of the mirror.
First of all…THERE’S A GUY NAMED JENSEN IN THIS BOOK!! …. and as the universe would have it. he was an alcoholic *rolls eyes*
Anyway the books starts off where the last one left off. Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Tegan are in a new place..” safe” place and they’re “adjusting” to life in their own ways. This one was less intense than the last one but that’s kind of a given considering the fact that they aren’t in the tunnels fighting for their lives every second of every day….HOWEVER! i will say that this one is DEFINITELY more unsettling. i mean the shit that is going on. WHAT THE FUCK! — i don’t want to give anything away, but i will say. THEY’RE FUCKING SCREWED! (when the next book comes out of course)
I remember when i was reading a certain part in this book…i forget which exactly, but i thought “omg this reminds me so much of Twilight!” lmfao! now don’t get all cray cray its NOTHING like Twilight. It’s just the way the boys are so protective of Deuce reminded me of how Edward and Jake were protective of Bella. Don’t get it twisted though. Deuce can handle herself AND kick BOTH the boys’ ass. tuh!
ONE thing i don’t like about these books and we can just make this a GENERAL thing that i don’t like that applies to all books, it’s just THIS book is the one that made me realize it….i don’t like when the Chapters in books are named. The chapters in these books all have one word names … titles to the chapters. But i don’t like it because from the names you can kind of tell or speculate what might happen and that’s just so UGH! Like one Chapter was named Disaster. and just…as soon as i saw that i tensed up and i was just like, ‘omg i know shit is going to hit the fan’ but i don’t like that…idk i guess i just want to get to the next chapter and let it happen, i don’t want to be EXPECTING something to happen or FEARING what’s going to happen….
It’s interesting seeing how the people act in Salvation (that’s the name of the place they’re in) it’s a dim reflection of what we are right now. even though they don’t have modern technology and they’re living in a post apocalyptic world…their actions are so HUMAN. they have a hierarchy, and they have rules and gossip, and rapists, and drunks and bitches and hoes. lol its…idk just crazy to see that even when put in a dire situation such as theirs human, nature still prevails and people are still….evil….
The next book doesn’t come out until this time next year…so I’ll sit here and die waiting for it to come out =(

This one is definitely a bit slower than the first book, which is fine by me. It definitely allows for more depth and growth of our main cast- especially in a new environment. Also, I’m so glad this is a finished series. That cliffhanger would be devastating if I had to wait for it.
