A real eye opener about the history of the famine in Ukraine, about which I had no idea. Thank you for writing this informative and emotional book. I loved the double time line with modern and old.

Learning about the historical events in this book was heartbreaking. Something about the writing or the multiple perspectives took me out of the story. I never felt connected to any of the characters.

4.5. An interesting take on a facet of history that I was not very familiar with. I have watched parts of the movie Mr. Jones that addressed the famine but I appreciated this story/approach more.
