When I first started reading, it honestly took me some time to get into it. Which was weird, considering it hadn't been that long since I read the first book but anyway.

I absolutely love the way Pullman plays with different worlds in this novel. Loved it even more how each world is shown as a different, small image on the page. You always know immediately what world you're in - and sometimes what world you're going to be in on the next page. Also made it tons easier when I hadn't read for a couple of hours.

As for the story - there were so many puzzle pieces scattered everywhere. Loved how they all came together by the end. Although I have to mention it sometimes felt a bit too easy? Some pieces literally fell into place in such a speedy pace that it felt over the top - just a tiny bit. Could've been me though!

I'm curious to see where the third book will take me. The ending of this one had me all curious. I'm wondering what Lyra's going to do. I'm wondering even more what Will's going to do. And my heart still hurts for that one character.

I would recommend this book to almost anyone!
The sequel to The Golden Compass, this book carries on where it left off. Many new charachters are introduced, and there are exciting adventures.
The only complaint that I have about this book is that sometimes Pullman's writing can be a little heavy and hard to get through, but for the most part this is an excellent book. You should read this if you liked A Wrinkle in Time. It's even better!

A step up from The Golden Compass, expanding the story in scope, complexity and maturity. Lyra was already a good character and improves again here, continuing to be a "Willful Special Child" character without being frustratingly impulsive, and developing a great chemistry with Will. Still strange that she continuously refers to everyone by their full names.
