That such an internationally renowned author listens to the Red Hot Chili Peppers while running marathons is a great thing to know.

I have got to stop buying books just because they have "run" in the title. The expectations are too high. This just wasn't a particularly interesting account of running or writing. I bet it would have made a nice essay comparing running and writing and the struggles of each.

I do hope that it will lead me to try other Murakami works as I've heard good things.

By running longer it’s like I can physically exhaust that portion of my discontent. It also makes me realize again how weak I am, how limited my abilities are. I become aware, physically, of these low points. And one of the results of running a little farther than usual is that I become that much stronger.

I will definitely be revisiting this book as I continue to dedicate more of my time and energy towards running; I relate to many of the sentiments Murakami expresses about running as a form of suffering that helps a runner discover something inside themselves. Murakami manages to weave his life story and his journey as a novelist into the common theme of running, which made me wonder how my running informs other pursuits in my life (it certainly does), so I found this memoir to be personally impactful. Regardless of my own introspection, I thoroughly enjoyed reading such an experienced perspective on the meaning and role of running, isolation, and routine in a fascinating author's life.

I love reading biography of other (successful) writers. It motivates me to be stronger in making my dreams come true.

Haruki Murakami talked about his life as writer, specifically linking it to his other passion, running. He participates in several marathons and trains for triathlons.

Sometimes I'm under the impression that a lot of people take health for granted when they are pursuing their dream. I admired Murakami's persistence for both, and I'm paving my way, hoping that one day I will be like him.

3.5! Helt bra insikter och intressant o läsa om Murakami, men int någo jättespeciellt heller. Rekommenderar om man funderar på att börja distanslöpa?

I very much enjoyed this book, I may not be a runner but the way Murakami made this relate to everyday life.
