I liked this sequel every bit as much as the first book. It’s still shocking to me how much prejudice there was such a short time ago. The sterilization of Cussie after her arrest shocked me, but I know that it’s probably historically accurate. As was the danger her father was in while being imprisoned during a polio outbreak. I love hearing the differences between city life & country life, especially as I moved from the big city to a very rural area three years ago. I would have (& still would like to!) have had Cussie & Honey’s book delivery job. Being out in nature to deliver them and choosing books especially for clients sounds like my dream job. I also thought Pearl’s job was really interesting and important. That’s what I like about the old days, for the most part jobs meant more. I would love another sequel, but it seems like this series is probably done.

Book 1 started out much slower, but I enjoyed Honey's story better.

This was a fun book about friendship, following your heart and filled with strong wonderful women! Honey was probably my favorite character. She is strong and determined. She's had some ups and downs like the rest of us but she never chose the easy route she always stayed true to who she was. But the others are just as wonderful so it really is a toss up. The book is well written and definitely a page turner. Great read!
