Anyone who has paid attention to my reading habits knows I'm a huge fan of LLV. I've made it my personal mission to read each and every one of her books (and she's got tons so it's gonna take me a while). When I realized that she'd written some paranormal romance, I couldn't believe my luck. Seriously, you should have seen the shock and pleasure on my face. My kids made fun of me for it, but I didn't care because one of my favorite authors dabbled in one of my favorite genres. And she killed it!

When I see Dragons in the blurb; it is automatically a HELLS YEAH from me towards the book!

And this was one was a breezer for me - I adored this light romance with loads of actions, and an intrinsic complex plot that will keep you engaged right till the last moment! But bewar, this will have a sort-of insta-love situation that might not be feasible to some readers.

Keifer is the prince of Dragons Riders – that means that he does not shape shift into a dragon, but in fact has connected to a dragon and taken on his abilities – BEST FREAKING THING about this book! Right off the bat, I was glad that this was the case for I am all for a case of shape shifting humans, but somehow those I have never found to be believable! And in this world? Dragons don’t need to hide! YESS!

Imagine sitting on your windowsill, with a cup of coffee and an amazing book in hand, looking out to see dragons fly by! THAT WAS WHAT WENT THROUGH MY HEAD WHEN I READ THE BLURB and that’s exactly how I will always think of this book (and series) from now on!

Blythe, on the other hand, is a nursing resident a simple normal human being with a boring life. All that changes when she meets her roommate’s boyfriends’ brother accidentally touching him, changing the course of her life!

It was hard not to like Kiefer and Blythe, not just individually but together as well! They are funny, they are hot but most of all, thrown together by circumstances they try and make the best of a situation with little to no drama at all! It wasn’t easy acceptance, but the fact that they are mated goes a long way in assuring their togetherness. But both are headstrong, independent and definitely not used to relationships, which definitely ended up making up for the insta-love kind of situation here.

There is also loads of action, especially with a villainous group so aptly named the “Purists” – a war has started, a war that would see a lot of casualties and I see a lot more seriousness for the future matings as compared to the light heartedness of this one!

I honestly can’t wait to read the next book – for the story ARC continues in the next one, even if it would be about a totally new couple!

I am on my quest of clearing out my kindle of the backlog and I picked this book pretty much Because I was laughing at that title and I was in the mood for a paranormal romance. Now I’d read The very first book Ms. Vale wrote and it wasn’t my cuppa. But I truly believe in trying anything three times and wanted to give her writing another shot because I have GR friends who love her books. This was a mixed bag.

Taking into account the fact that this is Ms.Vale’s first paranormal, I will say there are some interesting ideas for a dragon series where the hero isn’t a dragon shifter. I enjoyed some of the world building a lot because it’s different and has good potential. I really liked the little quotes at the beginning of each chapter and wish those lines had been part of the main dialogue. Unfortunately, I felt the story overall was uneven and too much was shared upfront instead of parsing out some of this information bit by bit in a more natural, organic way.

As a result of the worldbuilding, I think the romance suffered from a lack of attention. It was pretty insta, and there wasn’t a strong connection other than sexual between Kiefer and Blythe. However, all that being said I was intriguedwith this ‘verse and I really liked the set up for the second book so I’m willing to continue with the series even if this particular book didn’t quite work for me. And yay for taking another book off the TBR Mountain.

4 1/2 out of 5

I stayed up until 2 AM finishing this book. I really enjoyed it. I try not to question or complain about the shortness of a book, but this is an exception. As enjoyable as this was, I feel like Ms. Vale could have gone deeper with everything and the book wouldn't have lost anything. This was a good foray into paranormal. I look forward to the other books in the series.
