An interesting read, reads slightly like the a satirical imagination of the upper political class where any stereotypes you could think of are actually true.

Amazing insight into the Conservative party and the machinations of their politics. Every foible and prejudice is clearly on display. The impact of classism, alliances and betrayals is adeptly sketched.
It is gossipy rather than academic but that makes it even more revealing, including of the author who seems to have displayed more about her own views than she perhaps realised.

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

First, I was excited about the book and its content, but after a short while, I realized that it is a book just gossiping about others and talking very superficial about different topics. It also does not dig deeper, I found it very random and not rich in thoughts at all. Unfortunately, not what I expected.

I thought it would be good to read about how the other half view the world. I was wrong.

Very enjoyable account from a Tory MPs wife of the goings on in David Cameroons government before the Brexit vote. Its very indiscreet and a little shocking who removed from everyday life they are.

Possibly an unpopular opinion but I did not find this book to be a compelling read. I had purchased this eagerly, keen to have a “behind the scenes” peek at the British government from someone in the know and was left wanting. Not only did I find the nicknames given to the characters silly, but the casual racism of the author combined with her out of touch political views truly rubbed me up the wrong way. The book was a try hard for me and I wouldn’t recommend it.
