I absolutely devoured the book. It was amazingly well written and it was a cool idea to let us see what happens to Autumn Rose while Violet has her whole vampire ordeal to deal with. I have to admit that
Spoiler when Violet comes to the Athenea Court with the vampires and as a vampire herself, she isn't at all like the girl I remembered from Dinner with a Vampire. Instead she is like this lost little girl who needs someone to take care of her. Especially in the last chapter when Kasper goes hunting and she stays behind; Autumn tells her she can't take care of her then because her friend was murdered and Violet gets sort of angry.

Aside from that, I think Autumn Rose is a strong character, sure she has many flaws, but with the insight on what she has gone through, I think it is understandable.
I really hope there are going to be more books so that we won't be left hanging with only the first two Heroines.

JESIENNA RÓŻA

Recenzja NIE ZAWIERA spoilerów z tomu I

This was a little disappointing compared to the first one in the series.
I didn't enjoy the characters or the storyline and found that it didn't have the same fresh attitude as Dinner with a Vampire.
The MC just came across very dull and the settings weren't captivating.

The first time I heard about this book, was five years ago.

The story sounded interesting, however little did I know this was the second book in the series.?я I waited until I could get my hand on the first book.?я I have finished reading the first book three years ago and never was interested in creating reviews and blogs about how I felt, until the I saw a movie.?я?яI'm still a beginner of expressing my thoughts and not really vocal about how I feel.?я So please bare with me...

Majority of books I have read,?я One chapter starts, the next continues off from telling the next part of the story.?я Abigail Gibbs write differently, so different that it's a refreshing change.?я With Gibb's style of writing, each chapter is a different person's perspective between two different characters.?я One moment I would be getting Autumn's Perspective, the next would be Fallon's. It's not continuous in a pattern going:?я ?яChapter 1 Autumn,?яChapter 2 Fallon,?яChapter 3 Autumn,?яChapter 4 Fallon, etc.?я A few chapters will be in Autumn's perspective, then after every few chapter would be Fallon's perspective.

As most reviewers mentioned,?я this book runs parallel?яto the the first book, sharing the story of the back story in Autumn Rose's point of view.?я She is an an outcast in her school because she is different form humans, who lost her grandmother.?я As a sage it's her duty to protect the humans.?я Despite the bullies, and constant drain to her energy of not wanting to be at school, she still wants to keep the humans at her school safe.?яAutumn always closed off from the world, until Fallon came back in her life.?я Bringing light back into her life after her grandmother's death.?я It was pushed on her she didn't want anything to do with Fallon, she wanted to keep her identity as secret.?я When Fallon came in the picture, he turned her world up side down.?я Not only people learned she's the Duchess, she also learned Fallon knows why her grandmother died and it was a secret being kept from her.?я?я

One thing I'm happy about this book it was not sexualized between both Autumn and Fallon. It has slow beginning to get to the part on how both Violet and Kasper's entwined the story.

So this book takes place in a world where the supernatural is known by the non-supernatural. Yes in this world humans know that supernatural exist and just with this, it makes this book a bit more exciting to read.
Truthfully though, in the beginning I was like what am I reading and why can’t I understand some things? But I did not give up and my perseverance was well rewarded. The book turned out to be a very good read.
This is the second book in the Dark heroines book and the events in it go hand in hand with what was occurring in book one. So rather than having a continuation you get to see what was happening in the other world during the occurrence of book one. For most I think it might have good experience but for me I really wanted more of Kasper and Violet.
Fallon and Autumn may have had their moments but this book just a whole different vibe from book one. I still liked it but I just wish it had more intimate moments like with Violet and Kasper. The main characters were not as really connected as they were supposed to, you know. I imagine if I had a soul mate out there then when we would meet I would feel the connection one way or another.
I do recommend it for all of you supernatural fans out there and I give it a 3 star because I’m expecting a lot more emotions and sparks in the book that follows in this series.

I liked this one even better than Violet, because of the main characters.. I preferred Autumn and Fallon above Violet and Kaspar! Love this series:)
