I read this for my American Theater & Drama class.

The style the play was written in gives it a unique flow. Each line and moment blends into the next to a point that if you don't actively pay attention you get caught up in it. This does mean that the characters all have a similar voice, so it is hard to know which person is speaking without their names. However, the overall intention and message still comes through. The fact that despite new generations of Uses that try to reach the Purple Flower the White Devils find ways to keep them out. The system is purposely rigged against the Uses to prevent them from ever getting out from in-between Somewhere and Nowhere. Getting an education doesn't work because the textbooks are written by the White Devils, working hard doesn't work because the White Devils will just push them down, etc. The play is fascinating to read, and I am curious to see how it would be produced to show the distinction of the characters as some of their names are quite important (but are never spoken aloud).
