Overall okay, but their

lack of communication issues (especially when they were supposed to be so close after knowing each other for 20+years) and the way they lashed out at each other so deeply/personally when something small came up, comes off as the makings of a toxic relationship. There was also more than one point where they both drank and drove home, which is not great to be representing in any form.

i was engrossed in happiness falls from page one all the way to the end of this amazing book! it is a mystery, but it is also so much more. this book is such a clever take on considerations of motivation, of how high level, accepted beliefs in our society regarding happiness or mental health or racism or intelligence appear in practice within the family unit. i know that sounds intense, and this book was at times, but it is also lovely. it's about a family coming together to overcome, to protect each other, to care for each other, and to grow. it was set during lockdown in 2020, which was so interesting and strangely made me feel nostalgic for that time in my family.

such a smart book - please read :) :)

Picked this up because I love books about books! Turns out, this isn’t really very much about books, but it does turn out to be an important subplot. Really cute friends to lovers story 💕
Don’t love that every time I pick up a book on a whim I get to good reads and it says (#3) so now I have to find the other ones 🙄

Booked on a Feeling initially grabbed my attention from the synopsis and apart from reading that, I went in blind as I hadn’t heard anything else about it. 

One thing that deserves a special mention is the anxiety representation in this book. As someone who has suffered with anxiety all her life, I understood that tight feeling in your chest and how awful panic attacks can be. I was so proud of Lizzy realising her triggers and changing things in her life to help bring her happiness and peace. 

I related to both Jack and Lizzy in parts, and loved their friendship. It was definitely a typical, teasing type of friendship which was cute and funny. I loved Lizzy being a book lover and there were moments where I truly related to all the quotes about being a reader. While I adored them as friends, I found it hard to connect with their romance - something was lacking for me. I think I didn’t connect to the main characters all that well and so that could also be a contributor of why I didn’t feel the romance. Despite them being 30 years old, it sometimes felt a bit high school. 

I liked the idea of the plot (it reminded me a little of Book Lovers) and it made me realise that even though you’re 30, it doesn’t mean you know what you want in life for yourself. It gave me that sense of comfort to know that’s ok. I also loved the Korean representation from both main characters and showing two different families. I would have liked to know a bit more about their childhood - how did they meet, who did Lizzy stay with once her family went back to Seoul. I know they’re little things, but those would help be connect a bit more with the characters I think. 

Overall, this was a cute read, but there was parts that lacked for me and so I couldn’t fully invest in the story.

Honestly if you’re going to have a library and books in the first 20 pages and on the cover I’m sold. I definitely love romances and this was a classic romance. I did like the twist that the main character was very vocal and communicative. There wasn’t a lot of misunderstandings that were addressed pretty early on. I thought that the main character did a lot of the things that I would do if I was in that situation and I definitely fell in love with these two childhood friends. I definitely love the smut scenes and wish there were more. I definitely think it’s one of the better books I’ve read this year and highly recommend!

Too much telling not enough showing in the writing style of this book. I don’t think     this author is for me, but I’m always tempted by the covers.
