A chilling and thorough account of the disturbing events surrounding NXIVM. The facts are presented logically and understandably, despite there being so many people involved over so many years. It is haunting how this happened so recently, right under our noses. I think there is a lot to be learned in this book about the signs of manipulation and abuse, although that is not the book's goal. All in all, I praise Berman for her diligent research and dedication to sharing this story.

I recommend the audiobook!

The most comprehensive piece of media I’ve consumed about NXIVM so far. It starts with Raniere’s childhood and goes year by year all the way through to his sentencing in 2020. It has plenty of in-depth testimonies from women who have not been featured in other books, podcasts, or tv shows about the organization. I do not recommend this book as a cold open to NXIVM since it is so comprehensive it can be a little confusing if you don’t have any grasp on the organization and its members already. I’d suggest the 4 episode show “Seduced”, made by STARZ, as a starter on NXIVM.
