Come Rain or Come Shine by Kazuo Ishiguro

Ishiguro always finds a way to highlight the pointlessness of it all, his characters are so well depicted. Charlie & Emily are not very good friends to Raymond, they are self centred, entitled and completely bound up in their own perceived problems. London (& many other places) to a T these days. We seem to have lost our character in this relentless quest for self.

So nice writing, it has a good introduction to Ishiguro's work. I think that he loves a focus on the mundanity of life and you can tell that from the story. Not my favourite but I am sure that I will read more from him in the future.

Short, sweet and incredibly telling of unhappiness and distance in relationships. Typical of Ishiguro I felt for the narrator Ray amongst his almost cartoon character friendships in this absorbing world which was perfect to digest in one sitting. Fully fleshed!

A bizarre, hilarious short story about a bunch of selfish twats. Will be trying out the curry recipe asap.

It is my first try of Faber stories short form and my first Kazuo Ishiguro. I thought this was competent writing and good grasp of the short story form. I felt the character development was done well and there was enough nuance in the plot and story arc!
