Pretty cool, especially the beginning and end, the scope and what it represents. The plot within the first future was a little bit boring, but made up with it elsewhere.

A Fellow time traveller stumbles upon an unexpected utopian/dystopian (it's subjective) civilization in 802,701 A.D where he faces some serious issues of getting back to his present.
Not too detailed though!

At the risk of execution, I'll admit I liked the 2002 movie better than I liked the book. The emotional stakes, motivation for the adventure, and overall logic are areas of comparative strength for the film--not to mention the fact that the Time Traveler actually gets a name.

BUT.

The book and the 2002 film adaptation are so wildly different from one another that it's more like apples and oranges than what's better or worse. They're two different stories, really. So this was still very much a four-star read for me. I loved the sense of adventure I felt in the writing. There was great tension in all the right places. And like any good sci-fi, it made me think--both about the future and the impact of the present. H.G. Wells' work certainly deserves its place among the sci-fi classics.

It was a short read but managed to fit in some interesting story points. It’s a human dream as old as time itself, to want to be able to travel through time. This book doesn’t do anything exceptionally mind boggling with that trope but it’s in no way a dull experience. I still recommend this book to anyone who is interested, you can’t really go wrong here.

Unfortunately for me, the events that transpire in the Traveler's future just aren't interesting or entertaining.  The mode by which the story is told takes the reader out of the events and into the room where the story is being told.  In a sense, it is even further removed from immersion, so to speak.  The best part was his final jumps into the future where he sees the earth dying.
