The expansion plan of Siluca and Theo continues, as they go to war against the neighboring Lassic David, whom they find a match in. Siluca, while a powerful mage in her own right, has to match her skills against Lassic's mage, who is quite formidable, and a strain on her exhausted powers. The Artists and soldiers are also having their own share of troubles. Meanwhile, Theo is feeling left out of the action, and finds it unfair that he has to stay back because he is a symbol (or whatever). The story focuses on the motives for the lords, why they want to govern or expand, and so far I am getting is that the system is very corrupt and prone to exploitation of the regular folk. I would love if they explore it into that, and not just make it battle porn; I gotta admit, though, that the action scenes are drawn wonderfully.
I would probably like this better if the story made an effort to address the various 'why's that pop up when you are reading this. Why, if the mages hold true power, are the lords in charge? If it is because the Lords can wield chaos, I am not clear why not use Artists? The whole magic and governing system has a lot of plot-holes and the only reason for this group to exist is that they are allied to Theo. And if I thought that wasn't enough to keep me invested in this series, the constant diversions into fan-service are enough to convince me that I want to drop it. Aishela, who is a powerful Artist, is reduced to a 12-year old's fantasy, whose only purpose is to sexually harass Siluca or try to get her into a bath.
In short, I am interested in the storyline, but the execution of the plot and the bad writing are making me drop it.
