It would’ve been less painful to watch my 80-year-old grandmother accidentally read aloud a chapter of my amateur smut writing to her southern baptist church choir than it was to finish this book.
I finished this because I am a masochist and my available Libby reads were this and a nonfiction book about Iron Age tools and honestly I chose wrong.
Here are the main things i took issue with:
1. He calls her babygirl (like enough so that I think maybe the author forgot Georgies name)
2. Our girl Georgie is a clown - and not metaphorically
3. The ending had me cringing so hard i read it with only one eye open and gave myself two charlie horses in the time it took our characters to spot each other going opposite directions on a NY FREEWAY
I’ll end this negative review by saying I always feel guilty leaving them, I’m sure Tessa’s a nice lady and I know for a fact her writing has improved, this one just sucked 2 bats (get it?) but who am I to talk my practice smut gets booed by ladies who still wear pantyhose

pretty good!
3.5 stars
I picked this book up as an audiobook because I received the second and third book as ARC´s so I wanted to start at the beginning. I was expecting a fun fluffy romance novel to take my mind off of things and this is exactly what I got. This book is not bad but it also isn’t perfect, but for what I was expecting and wanting of my reading experience this book delivered just fine.
In this book we follow Georgette Castle, who loves planning children’s birthday parties and making people laugh, just not at her own expense. We also follow Travis Ford, who was major league baseball’s hottest rookie when an injury ended his career. Fix Her Up follows Georgette´s and Travis’ story as they try to find a place in the world while avoiding to fall in love with one another.
This is a fake-dating romance novel between two very flawed characters, and although it is a fun read, there were some aspects that really got in my nerves. First, and just to get it out of the way, the “baby girl” drove me insane. This is what readers complain about most and I totally got why. If Travis called Georgie baby girl one more time I was going to lose it, it sounds horrible, the way he said it made me uncomfortable and really there was no need.
Another things I wasn’t really a fan of was Travis, unfortunately the male main character was awful, he was rude, misogynist and overall a terrible human being (even if he does redeem himself by the end). Honestly, I couldn’t understand why a well-educated and successful woman like Georgie would ever fall for a guy like that.
On a more positive note, there were some things I really enjoyed about this book, first of all, Georgie, the main character was my favorite honestly. She was so sweet and determined to grow her business into success it was inspiring. Second, the sister relationship, I loved reading about Georgie and her sister being there for one another, it was very wholesome. Finally, my favorite part of the book was the friendship aspect of it all, I adored reading about a group of women coming together to hype and help one another to achieve their individual dreams. Honestly, GOALS!
Overall, this was a solid romance novel and a good start to the series. Granted, there were some things I didn’t like, but overall I had a pretty positive reading experience. I will continue on with the series because I am way too invested in the friend group. Solid read.
P.S: the proposal was 10/10
