Honestly this one is my favorite so far from the series.
medium-paced

this one was the hardest book in the series to get through so far because i really really didn’t want to know what happened but also had to keep reading

i have nothing. 2020 me has nothing
---------------------------------
This book was a little of a downhill for me because The Dream Thieves was the best thing ever. This book definitely did a good job of keeping me on my toes. Here are my three thoughts.

1. Ronan. Ronan. Ronan. Each book I fall in love with him more. He's definitely my favorite raven boy because he is just so complex and each book, we see new sides of him. In the second book, we realize that Ronan is gay, and by the end of this book, you are shipping Adam and Ronan together. Their relationship in this book was beautiful, and it was nice to see the polar opposites get to know each other a little better.

2. Gansey. WOW oh WoW. Gansey's storyline in this book really made me happy because he was like battling his love for Blue while trying to keep the group calm about the cave/glendower/maura disappearance. He is amazing and much respect to him.

3. Plot. Maggie has this tendency to fool the reader into thinking the book is going to be calm, but then in the last 30 pages, she turns it up a notch by solving the mystery about the cave and the greenmantle storyline. In addition, we are still figuring out Adam's powers and discovering even more secrets.

I feel like I want to save that scene of Gamsey and Blue driving in his car aimlessly just for the sake of their own company in my memory while I Think He Knows plays in the background bc let's face it, a scene like that deserves a soundtrack like that

a lot of death going on but omg YES

4.5

This time, in this book, I'm not going to talk about much more than the ships. Because they're on my mind. Always.

Gansey x Blue. Goddamn. I find their relationship quite frustrating. Especially that one part, in the car, when they were almost kissing, and the next moment they were fighting over that one Aglionby boy, Henry(?). I don't even know what there was to fight about. They just were. And then whenever they're around people, they always pretend that they don't like each other in the slightest, that the most they could ever be is friends. I just find that super frustrating, and the fights that Blue starts don't help. Like, I know there are definitely things other people say that would easily offend anyone had the comments been directed at them, but I still think Blue's fighting is a bit excessive.

Ronan x Adam. I can slowly, very slowly see it happening. But to me, I just feel like the idea of Ronan liking anyone is impossible. I mean, I guess we've already seen that with his family, and he does show it (rarely) around his friends, but I don't know, I guess I just can't see Ronan liking anyone that way. But I am slowly waiting for it to happen. I can see it forming in front of me, and I'm just here, saying over and over "just happen already!!!"

Mr. Gray x Maura. I love them. I cannot leave them out of this review because I totally ship them and I want them to be togetherrrr foreverrr!! I just love them so much! And at the beginning of the second book, I did not like Mr. Gray. I thought he was another Barrington Whelk and I was just like goddamn it, Blue, stay away from him, he's trouble. But then, he became nice. And now I love him more than Ronan, more than Adam, maybe even more than Noah. And he loves Maura so much. I don't think he had a perspective in this book, but in the last book, it showed just how much he really adored Maura, and I just think it's super sweet, they're super sweet. I don't want it to end... I really hope they end up together. I mean, technically they found Artemus "Butternut" now, but I really think Maura should choose Mr. Gray. Art has been gone for too long. And I'm not sure whether or not that's his fault (I don't think it is), but whatever. He's been gone, and Mr. Gray saved the day. We all love him now. He deserves to end up the champion. If he doesn't end up with Maura, I will die.

I can't think of any more ships; I don't think there are more. I don't think so... but if I'm missing any, then Oh well. I can't choose my favourite ship - all of them have their ups and downs. But if any of them perish, a part of my soul will perish with them. I'll be looking for certain things in the next book...

adventurous dark emotional medium-paced

Okay ummmmmmmm

I think this was my least favourite book in the series so far???? Panic!!!

It was still really really good and I loved it, but it just didn’t have the same oomph as the other two???

but yes worries for TRK not gunna lie

anywayyyyyy slay things that were good and fun:
- PIPER (obsessed. what a queen. 10/10)
- blue and gansey in the car (iykyk)
- the boys and the court case (I love them)

… I’m ngl I read this a week ago and I literally don’t remember ANYTHING that happened, so yeah…

The thing is it’s not bad, but I feel like the writing style is pretty different to the first book, which was undoubtedly my favourite. Like in that one the pacing was SO slow and literally nothing happened, whereas in this one lots of small things and subplots were happening, and they just weren’t really as interesting as the other books, which just kinda left me like eh.

I will say that the characters are CARRYING this series fr, like I love every single one of them and I’m excited to see what becomes of them, but overall this book has been my least favourite so far.
