United Nation's Cultural Liason, Nicholas Lee protects the world's Cultural Artifacts. Nic travels to Belgium and uncovers a mystery surrounding the Ghent Altarpiece which has been vandalised 13 times. He finds himself in the middle of the Saint-Michael Maidens and the Vaticans dispution.

With such a hard topic the writing style was great with a solid flow and at a good pace. A plot well thought out. The MC is not well known to us and hope if this becomes a series his character will be explored more. The narration was excellent and the bright red book cover captures your attention immediately.

This book holds two significant storyline. It gives us both historical fiction and a lot of mystery & thriller aspects. There is quite a bit in this book. Not one to take lightly. A good storyline for sure with loads of facts. I appreciated the author's note, which gave significant insight. Overall I did enjoy this book.

Thank you Netgalley and Hachett Audio for this Arc.

I really enjoy Berry's books, and I hadn't read one in a while -this was good! I didn't really appreciate most of the characters except Nick - they weren't likable, or maybe I just couldn't relate. The story had me absolutely hooked! This story is so well done, just as expected. I found the ending pretty unsatisfying both for the details that were shared, and those that weren't.

I recommend this to fans of Steve Berry, as well as those that wanted more out of anything that they've read by Dan Brown :)

DNFd at 68 pages.

I simply don’t think this authors writing is for me. I love multi POV usually but this was just a lot to try and follow.

There was also a lot of information thrown at your very quickly. I can guarantee I wouldn’t have remembered 99% of it. Why add it if it’s not really important and if it is important, well I’ve forgotten it anyway. I’d much prefer little bits throughout than big blocks of text.

Also, in the prologue it’s the 1400s. Why would the main character of that bit expect to hear the ‘buzz’ of a saw. I’m no historian but I’m pretty sure saws weren’t buzzing back then.

I liked it, but I didn't love it. It was nicely paced, tensed where needed and ofcourse mysterious, but there often was too much "background chatter". It was mostly an easy read, for a holiday. Better than others, but I also have read better ones in this genre.
