Boring. Main character is naive and ridiculous.

Constant drama

The first book left on SUCH a cliffhanger, and honestly, this one had THE most ultimate betrayal in it. I cannot divulge who or when or where...other than they were forgiven far too easily. Regardless, this duology had me gasping at every turn. SO good, so unique, so historically accurate (as much as it can be), and well written. I couldn't put the first book down, and it was so hard to wait for this one. I read it so fast, I am mourning it is over! Please give us more in this world, and more of Whit and Inez!!

I was entertained, but disappointed.

Inez deserves so much more. I feel like this book just took jab after jab after jab at her, and her ending is to actually stay with the man that literally lied and stole from her?????? And she couldnt have one singular family member that didnt blame her for everything, or try to kill her, or lie to her, or manipluate her, etc. Like give her a break PLEASE. And her big speech about not taking Whit back was laughable and made me lose respect for her at the end of the book.  Ugh the only characters I'm left rooting for after this book ended would be Farida and Kareem.

This series was exciting, that’s for sure. Lots of twists and turns, some a little bit much but it was a lot of fun. Similar complaint to other books, where I feel this would have been better as an adult book or it just felt like it was lacking depth. I am knocking off at least 0.5 stars for the amount of the times the author talked about Elvira’s head being blow apart 🙃🙃

I adored this series so much! The banter between Whit and Inez was so fun to read. They absolutely have chemistry, and it’s rare I enjoy both the FMC and MMC without one of them getting on my nerves.

Loved the historical fiction and magical elements, Romantasy is my preferred genre but this was different in a good way

The plot was written beautifully and very clever with foreshadowing. Many plot twists and turns to keep you engaged. I am glad that the whole book did not take place in the library like you would expect, and that it was different from the first book.

The slow burn, enemies to lovers, angst, touch her and die was
