Where the Library Hides is an engaging blend of mystery and historical fiction, drawing readers into a world of secrets, hidden knowledge, and unexpected dangers. The book’s atmosphere is immersive, with a richly detailed setting that makes the underground library feel like a character in itself. The narrative unfolds with intrigue, weaving together past and present in a way that keeps the reader hooked.
However, my biggest frustration with the book was Inez. While her curiosity and determination make her a compelling protagonist, her naivety often led to situations that felt avoidable. Time and again, she ignored clear warnings or placed trust in the wrong people, making me want to shake some sense into her. While I understand that some of her choices were necessary to drive the plot forward, they sometimes felt forced, making her actions frustrating rather than organic. Despite this, the book delivers a satisfying mystery, with twists that keep the story moving. The author does an excellent job of crafting suspense and making the stakes feel real. Though not perfect, Where the Library Hides is still an enjoyable read, especially for fans of historical mysteries and book-related adventures. If you can look past Inez’s missteps, the journey is well worth it.
The writing style is just not for me and I kept picking up other books to read instead.
