Do not waste your time reading this series.  I rated the first book 4 stars.  The plot was interesting and the characters had potential really good character development arcs, but this book just threw that all out the window.  It’s almost like the author wrote the first book and didn’t have a plan for the second one.  There is SO MANY plot holes and plot points that didn’t add up.  The characters acted very different in the second book and not in a good way.  The first book had so much potential, and the second one just ruined it.

"I believe u" inez's catchphrase before she gets royaly fucked over yet again.

Even worse than the first one. Where is the plot? All characters are infuriating in a bad way, every major plot twist is expected, every time the "plot" is pushed forward its because someone other than the mcs just tells them everything. They dont discover anything really. Also the characters are so inconsistent and their personality and behaviour changes based on how the author wants to continue the story.

I’m not sure what to say, I didn’t really care for the first one, but it intrigued me just enough to continue. And also ended on a huge cliffhanger…

The main characters are still frustratingly inept at communicating with each other about real feelings—and motives, that would solve 68% of the conflict. Not to mention the relationship they have to build upon is more infatuation than any real love.

They really said, let’s put the most naive and trusting person in a world where no one could be trusted. Inez is literally betrayed by everyone she holds close to her. Hasn’t learned from the last book how to not make stupid decisions and jumps head first into everything that leads to making a mess for everyone else to clean up.

However, something was done right because I finished this in two days, probably more like within a 24 hour period, but hey. Maybe I just like the drama of a dysfunctional family.

I should've dnf-ed this book when Whit upended Inez's suitcase on the floor after asking to marry her. In the prologue.

But no, I continued reading because I wanted answers. The romance plotline ended well enough, but the rest? There's only so much betrayal you can write into a duology until it gets utterly boring.
