There’s a reason it’s labeled a classic! It’s a simple but ultimately heartwarming story. I actually really enjoyed listening to the audio version this time around.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett was such a sweet and hopeful read. The historical charm definitely shows its age, but the story still resonates—especially for younger readers. The details, the friendships, and the quiet growth throughout felt so warm and comforting. A lovely little classic.
Such a cute and sweet story. The descriptions and imagery of nature and childhood were so beautiful. This made me really feel like I wanted to experience the garden for myself.
"Where have you been hiding?
You seem lost, within your body and your mind
A beam of light can still remind you who you are.
Wounded by the world,
Your fragile nature needed shelter...
In the night we made a sanctum,
Out of mind, and out of sight
Won't you let me take you there?
Let me take you into the garden,
I'll be there,
painting the flowers,
giving them color...
Listen to the anthem.
Hear the flowers
Like their hymn has healing power
Take my hand,
and breathe in the colorful..."

Absolutely lovely. Saw the movie as a kid and expected to enjoy this, but I loved it so much more than I thought I would. Very charming and an inspiring take on life, the power of nature and managing hardships. Actually tested up during one of Colin’s meltdowns because of how much mental pain he’s been holding onto. Miraculously, Mary, Colin nor Dickson were annoying at all. Just great. Can’t wait to rewatch the movie as an abdul and with this fresh experience of reading the book.
