How did I manage to not read this book for so long? It was in the shelf when I was a child and I assumed I had read it and didn’t care for it. But I had NOT, and I LOVE IT.

I'm doing a summer reading challenge and for this prompt it was 'Read a book you loved as a child'. I still love this book .. but Colin is still irritating.

4.5! Really quite good

Delightful. I read this in late elementary school and re-read it now as an adult—so glad I did!

This was, without a doubt, one of the best books I’ve read in 2025. It was the perfect novel for this summer.

“The Secret Garden” is cozy, warm, lighthearted and overall very joyful. It makes you want to run through the moor and other gorgeous landscapes in England before settling down for a picnic and taking a nap under a tree, with the soft sounds of nature surrounding you. It makes you yearn for a life in the countryside.

I guess one could say this book is a bit reminiscent of Ann of Green Gables, in some ways, but with even less drama. The plot is so simple yet so effective.

I won’t go in too deep, because this is not a very deep novel, but the lesson is good. You are responsible for your quality of life. Nobody but you can decide if you are happy.
