The movie was a favorite for my children when they were young.
I like the book so much better

3 stars. This was fine. I hated the characters, especially Mary. My goodness what a pain in the ass little child. The adventure and everything of the story is fun and I did like the way that it ended but as a whole, I wasn’t impressed. I get why it’s considered a children’s classic and I’m sure I would’ve loved it as a child but it doesn’t stand that well to me reading it as an adult like some other classics.

I'm glad I finally read The Secret Garden. It's an enjoyable and well-written story. It had a lot of moral and lifestyle lessons, I appreciated the topics like spending time outside, having something to look forward to, mindset and affirmations, and of course the children's belief in magic.
I didn't like that the ending did not focus on Mary in any way when I thought of her as the main character. However, I do think the ending is powerful how it is.

I really liked this story more than I thought I would. I used the audio version of this and the narrator made it vividly great. Josephine Bailey's voice is so enjoyable. I felt like I was back in elementary school during story time. She made each character come alive and switched back and fourth different accents flawlessly. She kept the flow of normal conversation, as well.
