This book started off intriguing enough (for an anne rice book) and then it took a bad turn halfway through. I tried to claw my way out of it even though the religious lore was so tedious and boring.
Yet, the part that was interesting to me wasn't even mentioned in this book so I'd have to read the aftermath of armand's discovery in his own book (boo tomatoes tomatoes) but I'll be doing that anyway so it's okay.
Bible fanfiction sprinkled with thinly veiled racism so I'd proceed with caution, but if you've read queen of the damned I don't think you'd be suprised.

ALRIGHT CALL ME CRAZY but this was actually a whoooole lot better than i was expecting. grappling with the nature of god and the devil in a world peopled by vampires kind of slays, actually, and anything that has a tender moment between louis and lestat earns my seal of approval. also ENORMOUS armand feelings here.

Did you read TVL and wish the long Marius monologue was about something boring and delivered by an uninteresting character? Then you’ll love this book. Honestly a horrible slog and then an awesome last 50 pages which boosted this whole score up one star. Don’t really recommend it at all.
