More delightful, imaginative, dream world adventure from the author of "Where the Wild Things Are". Not quite as poetic, but the artwork is enchanting. Too bad its commonly banned.
Somehow I never read this growing up. I have now read it to my daughter about five times. I have absolutely no idea what the hell this book is on about. "Thanks to Mickey, we always have cake in the morning!"
We do? WHO HAS BEEN TAKING MY MORNING CAKE

This is definitely an unusual book. I'm not sure yet how exactly I feel about it and I suspect it will require multiple readings to fully get it. I was a little curious to see how my son would react to the book. (At 3 1/2 he's a bit on the young side for it). He listened with interest, after which however he closed the book and told me he didn't care for it. So, something about this book was unsettling to him. He had a similar reaction to [b:Where the Wild Things Are|19543|Where the Wild Things Are|Maurice Sendak|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327878051s/19543.jpg|3020535] earlier, where again he listened attentively but then declared he disliked it.
In any case, it's quite the memorable book, and we'll probably be coming back to it (we had it borrowed from library) when he's more ready for [a:Maurice Sendak|4489|Maurice Sendak|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1201028880p2/4489.jpg].

I'm in the milk and the milk's in me!
Maybe it's because I've always been a huge fan of dairy, or maybe it's because the illustrations are awesome, or maybe it's because the storyline is so wonderfully absurd... but I have always loved this book.

I don't even know what I just read. This is like a trippy dream of a hungry boy. I really enjoyed it.
I will admit to having basically no idea what happens in this book.
