This is such a fantastical story! A tiny bit scary and just the right amount of nonsense to make it a classic. For fans of the comic/movie Little Nemo.
Beware: there is a butt naked child in this book which is certain to stir up some comments!

Loved the illustrations, didn't care about the story (and yes I'm judging it as a children's picture book, not as an intensely-thought-out novel). There are better kid's books out there; this one was fine.

I am reading through a list of banned books and this one was on it. I can't find any reason to ban it. It's a children's book, and it doesn't have anything inherently bad in it. It might be a little scary, but it's just a book.

Fun and somewhat bizarre dream sequence. Loved Sendak's explanation on the Colbert Report http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/406796/january-24-2012/grim-colberty-tales-with-maurice-sendak-pt--1 Just hilarious.

Did this line not stand out to anyone? I'm pretty sure that Freud would have a field day with this one.
I love that this book has been banned and that librarians have doodled over Mickey's doodle. And that it's still around and people are reading it to their kids. I'll certainly do the same some day. What a clever man Mr. Sendak is.

This book was one of my favorites as a kid and I'm very glad that I had to revisit it for a class this week. It's still perfect.
